Wayback, Merlot, Jing, and the Return of the Blog

One more technology session. It was way too quiet for me. Nothing but the click, click, click of keyboards--but maybe some good learning. Or maybe not. Hey, there's somebody whistling--and a yawn! Well how about it? Was this a worthwhile session or not? Add here some more plusses and minuses about spending time with technology. How did you spend your time today? Will you be a better teacher or not as a result of today's session?

  1. By registering for all of these programs on the internet, you are forced to explore how you can use them. Whether or not you discover they can be helpful, or that they are usesless, you are still learning new information! I think having time to sit down and work with these programs on your own is very beneficial. In my opinion, it is when you are given time to explore these programs on your own, is when you discover the most about them. For instance, I never thought that a program like pageflakes would be of any use to me. After working with it, I realize that it might be nice to have a site where all the information I want to look at is in one spot.

  2. I can see easily how merlot would be an advantage and, with a little time, I could probably see pageflakes and delicious working for me as well. Toondoo was actually pretty hard for me because it forced me to create-1. A concept that needed to brought to the attention of the audience and 2- a creative background and outlook to relay that concept. This would not be an item I would use every day, but something I would have to put some time and effort into.

  3. I thought this was a very valuable use of my time, and I accomplished a lot as far as working on page flakes. I really like using pageflakes because I have so many different blogs, and other school related items for me, all in one place. I will encourage my students to use blogs and wikis, but it gets difficult to keep track of all the different things students need to follow. Pageflakes allow me and my future students to keep track of all of their different things. I really enjoyed doing my blog as well.

  4. I personally have a lot of time already put in on computers and have many ideas on how to integrate technology into the classroom. I like the opportunity to play around with the technology but I feel that we are getting information that many of us can grasp rather quickly. I would like it either to be more in depth or to be more conversational. Many of the students today have grown up with technology. Some where born with a controller in their hands. It would be interesting to see how everyone has come across in their gereral discoveries of technology. We could build on how we would use tech in the classrooms and see how others are planning on using it.

  5. I liked having some more time to explore the sites we learned about last week.

I think some group work on a site might be helpful before letting us loose. For example I wasted a lot of time on Merlot, but that could be because I wasn't sure what I was looking for.

With that said, I did enjoy my time on Deliciouis & pageflakes. I think I'll be a regular user of these.

It's hard to say whether or not I'll be a better teacher due to today's class. But if I end up using something that these sites provide, I guess I will be.
